Under-19 Trials This Weekend At MPP

FOLLOWING on the heels of a successful staging of the inaugural Sandals Cup 50 overs tournament in which Gros Islet Under-19 emerged as champion; the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association panel of selectors has called up 27 players to trials.

This weekend, weather permitting, the players invited will be engaged in a two day match at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

According to the SLNCA, the final team, when selected ,will represent Saint Lucia in the WinlottWindwards Under-19 tournament scheduled for Grenada later this month.

In the lineup for this weekend showdown to impress the selectors are seven of the players recently selected to represent the Windward Islands in CWI Regional under-17 tournament in July. Sandals Cup, MVP of the Finals, MVP of the Tournament and Bowler with the Most Wickets (23) Simeon Gerson – left-arm orthodox spinner.

Ackeem Auguste-multi talented player, left-hand batsman, left-arm leg spinner and a proficient wicketkeeper. Apart from making the Windward Islands squad to play in the CWI Tournament, Ackeem has been selected on the West Indies Under-16 team to tour England in August.

Lee Solomon-top left-hand batsman and right -arm seamer, Keygan Arnold-top order batman and left-arm orthodox spinner, Dominic Auguste-top order left-hand batsman and right -hand off spinner, Garvin Serieux – right -hand top order batsman, right-arm off spinner and wicketkeeper and Tyrone Theodore, left-arm seamer and lower order batsman.

The remainder of the squad include the experience Johnnel Eugene-right-hand top order batsman/right-arm off spinner, (Windward Island U19 captain for 2017), Kimani Melius-right-hand opening batsman-West Indies Under-19 opening batsman and Dane Edward -right -hand opening batsman who will want to make life difficult for the bowlers. Edward is also a Windward Islands and Saint Lucia top order batsman.

The consistency of Jard Goodman-left-hand opening batsman, Qwaine Henry- wicketkeeper/right-hand top order batsman, Hanif Antoine-right-hand top order batsman/ right-arm off spinner will want to make their presence felt likewise.

Sanjay Hayle-right-arm seamer/right-arm lower order batsman, Craig Elisee- right-arm seamer/left-arm lower order, Shelton St. Rose-right-arm seamer/left-hand middle order batsman, Marlon Remy-right-hand middle order/right-arm off spinner,TyrellChiquot-left-arm seamer/ right-arm middle order batsman, JeannickSerieux- right-arm seamer/right-hand middle order batsman, Extus Emmanuel-right-hand top order batsman/right-arm leg spinner, Rahym Joseph-left-arm spinner/right-hand middle order batsman, UdellPreville-right-arm off. spinner/right-hand middle order batsman, Matteo Boulogne-left-hand top order batsman, Jaden Elibox-left-arm spinner/left-hand lower order batsman, Emmerson Charles-right-hand middle order batsman, Zayee Antoine-right-hand middle order batsman/right-arm seamer and Tuerius Jones-right-arm of spinner/right-hand middle order batsman.
