‘Capri Sun’ Sponsors VSADC ‘Fest’ At Vigie

THE Vempers Sports Athletic Dramatic Club (VSADC), one of the oldest sports club on the island, received a drop in the bucket recently as Capri Sun / Massy Stores contributed a $6,000.00 sponsorship cheque towards a Youth Football Festival.

The value of Capri Sun’s sponsorship was increased after the sponsors were made aware of the 65-year history the club.

The tournament will carry the name of the popular juice brand, VSADC Capri Sun Youth Football Festival. The two-day event will take place on Saturday and Sunday September 17-18 at the SAB playing facility and will cater to over 120 young footballers who will compete in two age groups; Under 11 and Under – 14 respectively.

Peter Prospere, one of the organizers, indicated that to date the following football teams have confirmed their participation: Gigs Football Academy from Soufriere, Flow Lancers FC, Valley Soccer Club, host VSADC from Central Castries, Reduit FC from Gros Islet, Big Players from Marchand and Ciceron Seagulls SC from South Castries.

Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer for Massy Stores, Nadia Rudolph, paid: “Capri Sun understands the importance of sports in the development of youth and this partnership with VSADC, a 65-year-old organization dedicated to youth within the Castries basin, is evidence of this.”

VSADC President, Curtis Paul, reiterated his club’s commitment to youth development with the club operating a full-fledged, but unsponsored youth academy for the past 11years. The VSADC Youth Academy has over 100 attendees and caters to young people from 7 – 18, years most of whom come from depressed communities in the city. Paul was appreciative for the support provided by Capri Sun and Massy Stores and pledged his club’s commitment to executing a fun and enjoyable festival.

Participants in the Capri Sun VSADC Youth Football Festival will compete for trophies, medals and product prizes, courtesy of Capri Sun and Massy Stores. Parents, families and football lovers are invited to the SAB playing facility from 9:00 a.m. each day to witness the matches and support the aspiring footballers.
