“Most of our diplomatic allies focus on the development of tourism and receive international visitors. It proves that these countries are quite attractive”, said Isaac C. Chiu, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs of Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry.

Executive vice president of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Simon Wang said it was meaningful to promote tourism and agricultural products from Taiwan’s diplomatic allies.

A letter of intent to promote tourism was signed on site by the Taiwan Quality Assurance Association with tourism associations from seven countries including Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA). Both sides expect to promote mutual collaboration, exchange experiences and share information.

Mr. Ben Wu, a famous travel YouTuber who visited Saint Lucia in April 2019, also shared his valuable travel experience of having a mud bath and a sip of rum with his audience during his stay in Saint Lucia.

Global tourism has struggled this year because of COVID-19. The aim of the reception was to increase the exposure of Taiwanese travel agencies to the tourism industries of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.

The event was commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, Taiwan TAITRA, partnering with Taiwan Embassy in Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia and other foreign Embassies in Taiwan.
