UNICOMER to Safeguard Customers and Staff Amid a Rise in COVID-19 Cases

UNICOMER (St. Lucia) Ltd announced today that in the wake of the increase in cases in the local community regarding COVID-19, they have implemented more stringent measures at all of their facilities to safeguard all staff and customers. The stricter and deliberate protocols have been taken out of an abundance of caution to mitigate against the spread of the contagious disease at their Retail Branches, Distribution Centers and Corporate Offices.

Mr. Vincent Gordon, Managing Director of Unicomer (OECS) limited stated, “COVID-19 is a highly communicable disease and it is incumbent upon all members of the business community to safe-guard their staff and the general public to prevent community spread.”

In response to the new cases reported by the Department of Health of Wellness, Mr. Gordon has advised that high traffic customer locations are being professionally cleaned and sanitized on a scheduled bases and that a zero tolerance policy has been adopted to restrict the entry to its facilities by anyone who does not adhere to the policy of mask wearing, submit to temperature checks or sanitize their hands prior to entry at any of the Unicomer facilities.

Additionally, he also advised that staff members are constantly being monitored and communication is frequent to note the wellness of Unicomer Team members. Where needed, adequate health and mental health support is readily available and being provided to protect the well-being of Unicomer’s most valuable resource – its staff.

“We have to be mindful that to prevent the spread, we all have to cooperate with the health and safety guidelines and this extends to the business community,” remarked Mr. Gordon. “As retailers, we are also cognizant that we are entering into the traditional peak trading season and which is important to stimulating the economy and protecting the livelihoods of as many persons as possible. To do so, we must do it in a way that is safe and preserves the health of all involved. At Unicomer we will continue to do our part and we know that if we all do our part, we will get through this together.”
