Community Football: Parliamentary Representative Cup

THE excitement continues this weekend in one of three Parliamentary football competitions currently ongoing in Castries East, Babonneau and Vieux Fort South.

The Babonneau Football League Parliamentary Cup in collaboration with the Parliamentary representative for Babonneau Ezekiel Joseph continues this weekend with three exciting matches.

Today, from 6.00 p.m. Babonneau Connect plays Garrand FC at the Fond Assau playing field.

Tomorrow the showpiece shifts to the La Guerre playing field with a double header. From 4.00 p.m, Hill Top Hammers plays New Generation FC, while at 6.00 p.m. Boguis United Stars plays Balata / Ti Morne United.

The tournament was launched on Monday 5th October with a Soccer Rama which was won by New Generations.

In the Phillip J. Pierre football competition organised by the Marchand Football League (MFL) after a weeks break, the action resumes on Monday 12th October with a double header at the Marchand Grounds.

From 5.30 p.m., in the first of a double header, Big Players FC plays Flames United Youth, while at 7.30 p.m Marchand Veterans will come up against B 1 FC.

Meanwhile, in the south of the island, two matches were played in the Dr. Kenny D. Anthony sponsored Vieux Fort South League (VFSL) Senior Men’s Football competition at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) in Vieux Fort on Thursday 8th October.

In game 1, Shambala Shiloh defeated Stable Boyz 1 – 0 with their goal scorer being Sharm Pierre in the 41st minute.

In the other game played top of the table Platinum FC out played Uptown Rebels to romp home victorious 3-1.

For Platinum their goal scorers were Kevin Myers with a brace in the 75th and 4th minute of added on time and the other from Wendell Clarke in the 68th minute,

Shane Paul scored for Uptown Rebels in the 85th minute of play.

With four rescheduled matches left to be played the race for two qualifying spots provides for some excitement. Thus the points standing is as follows. Platinum FC – 18 points; Shambala Shiloh – 15 points; Knights – 10 points; Victory Eagles 1 and Uptown Rebels are locked on 9 points each and Stable Boyz – 6 points.
