On Thursday 27th August 2020, the Gros Islet North Youth and Sports Council awarded three students, entering secondary school, a scholarship towards COVID-19 relief efforts and to assist the students financially in the upcoming school year.

The President of the GINYSC, Ms. Raejean Montoute stated that ā€œEvery year our council seeks to provide a means of educational support to youth within the community, last year we undertook a project dubbed the GINYSC NEET Youth Scholarship (NEET means not in education, employment or training), in collaboration with the National Learning Enrichment Unit (NELU). Initially, the plan would have been to continue this project, however, given the pandemic our plans had to have changes. Nevertheless, we stay committed to assisting youth in our communityā€

The scholarship recipientsā€™ were: Mr. Jordan Peter (Gros Islet Primary), Gem Michaud (Gros Islet Primary), and Tavvi Anthony (Monchy Primary)
