Speak Out to Make an Impact

WHEN a school teacher challenges a class of fifth formers to write letters to a local newspaper speaking about issues they have faced going about their day to day in Saint Lucia, or their general observations on the state of affairs here, what do you think will be the result? Well, if you’re a religious reader of the VOICE Newspaper you would have caught the first three letters from some very spirited students of the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School published in our Thursday edition. They wrote to our newspaper addressing issues including the state of local roads, health care, racism, and even equality. In this week’s edition we are featuring some more of these stand out letters from students of the VFCSS to inspire more Saint Lucians to reach out and share the matters on their mind in the hopes of challenging the norm, influencing public opinion, and overall spurring change. We hope you enjoy these letters, and if inspiration strikes, email us your responses to [email protected]!
