FOOTBALL WEEKEND ROUND UP: Tournaments and Venues

FOOTBALL excitement continues this weekend with a number of tournaments taking place at various venues, but one thing’s for sure all eyes will be on the Castries Football Council (CFC) sponsored Bank of Saint Lucia (BOSL) and LUCELEC Youth tournament at the Sab Sports Facility with the finals of the Under11/13/15 and 18 age categories.

By all indications the youth players are all set and ready to exhibit their respective talents on the square, representing their various clubs; one also expects to see a sizeable crowd of parents on the sidelines supporting the action as it happens.

From 10.00 a.m. the Under 11s will kick things off when Flow Lancers FC plays rivals Valley Soccer Academy for the championship trophy and gold medals.

Next up will be the Under 15s; Flow Lancers FC will be featured in another final, this time taking on GMC United out of Gros Islet for bragging rights, the championship trophy and gold medals.

The competition continues on Sunday 10th November from 10.00 am with Flow Lancers meeting VSADC in the Under 13 division finals; while New Generations FC will face VSADC to determine the Under 18 championships.

SLFA National Women’s Tournament

Matches continue today (Saturday 9th) in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. Women’s Under 23 competition at the SAB with the National Under 15s coming up against Central Castries at 4.00 p.m.

SLFA Island Cup

Today, from 6.00 p.m. tournament leaders Gros Islet take on Roseau and Central Castries plays Marchand at 8.00 p.m. Both matches are scheduled for the Marchand Grounds.

On Sunday, from 6.00 p.m. Dennery plays Vieux Fort South and Mabouya Valley will come up against Canaries at 8.00 p.m. Both matches are also scheduled for the Marchand Grounds.

Corporate Warfare Futsal Tournament

Three matches will take place this evening in the group stage of the 2019 Corporate Warfare Futsal Tournament currently taking place at the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility.

From 6.30 p.m., in Game 1, WLBL takes on Statesman 758; Sandals Grande plays PCD at 7.30 p.m. and KFC goes up against Ferrands at 8.30 p.m.

Gros Islet Football League / Spider Cup

In Game 1, from 4.00 p.m. at the Gros Islet Playing Field, Mango Moon GMC versus Valley Soccer Academy; Game 2, KFC GMC United takes on Veterans at 6.00 p.m. and Game 3, Twist Dominators play Flames FC at 8.00 p.m.

Gros Islet Football League (GIFL) / Guardsman Under 14 Invitational
Two matches are scheduled for Sunday 10th in the 2019 GIFL / Guardsman Under 14 Invitational at the Gros Islet Playing Field; from 12.00 noon, GMC United plays BI FC and Northern United plays Flames United at 1.45 p.m.

Veterans in Sports Inc.

Following the staging of the inaugural Super 10 Knockout Tournament last weekend, the 2019 Veterans Football Tournament shift into gear with six matches at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) in Vieux Fort.

Today from 4.00 p.m., Choiseul Veterans play Marchand; Mon Repos Sharks take on All Blacks Dennery at 6.00 p.m. and it’s Flow Lancers versus Vieux Fort South at 8.00 p.m.

On Sunday 10th, from 3.00 p.m., Canaries will come up against Valley Legends; Micoud plays Laborie Veterans at 5.00 p.m. and VSADC takes on Central Vieux Fort at 7.00 p.m.

Community Football

The much anticipated Lisa Jawahir sponsored Community Shield Competition will officially kick off at the Cul de Sac Playing Field today (Saturday 9th) November 2019.

In the tournament where EC$2000.00 is up for grabs Obla Fusion comes up against Islandwide Electrical to get the ball rolling at 6.00 p.m. This will be followed by two other encounters featuring West Side Connection against Sarrot Scorpions at 7.00 p.m. and Garrard FC versus Choppers at 8.00 p.m.

The action continues on Sunday 10th with another exciting triple header: from 6.00 p.m. Trois Pitons takes on Belair, to be followed by the encounter featuring Red Knights against Goodlands at 7.00 p.m. The curtains will come down on the day’s proceedings with BSJ Ballers coming up against Genaside at 8.00 p.m.
