MATCHES continued in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. Presidents Cup on Thursday 24th October 2019 with wins for Victory Eagles, T Valley, Knights and B1 FC.
At the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort, the first encounter between 1987 All-Stars out of Anse la Raye and Victory Eagles of Vieux Fort proved to be very lively and exciting.
In the first half both teams gave it their all and despite the provision of a number of opportunities neither was able to find the back of the net as the half ended goalless.
On the resumption Victory Eagles surged into the lead when No. 21 Jamil Joseph found the back of the net with a powerful header off a corner kick in the 49th minute. All Stars were not discouraged and kept pressing forward and were soon rewarded with a penalty following a handle ball in the area.
This was duly converted by No. 10 Ericson Reid in the 58th minute to level the scores. Both teams went in search of the winning goal and as luck would have it substitute No. 18 Irone Joseph with only his first touch in the game gave Victory Eagles the lead in the 70th minute.
Try as both teams could no further goals were scored as the game ended 2 – 1 in favour of Victory Eagles.
In the second game played B 1 FC edged past Diamond Ballers 2 – 1 with their goals coming from No.18 Miguel Remy in the 31st minute and No. 11 Jonai Ferguson in the 72nd minute.
Diamond Ballers got their goal from No. 14 Dalyan Johnson in the 34th minute.
The half time score was 1 – 1.
At the Anse la Raye Playing Field Knights defeated Bays FC 4 – 1.
Nikel Emmanuel scored a brace (2) in the 32nd and 84th minutes, while there was one each from Kimlan Mason and Jeff Emile in the 59th minute.
Kacy Henry scored for Bays FC in the 72nd minute.
In the second encounter T Valley defeated New Generation 2 – 0. They got their goals from Doneal Lionel in the 28th minute and Joel Actie in the39 th minute.
Meanwhile, matches continue on Tuesday 29th, from 6.00 p.m., at the La Ressource Playing Field, Togetherness Youth versus T Valley and at 8.00 p.m., GMC FC plays Bays FC.
Also on the same day, from 6.00 p.m., New Generation takes on Flow Lancers FC and at 8.00 p.m. Knights FC plays 1987 All Stars.
On Thursday 31st, from 6.00 p.m. at the Anse la Raye Playing Field, RV Juniors play Diamond Ballers and at 8.00 p.m. Victory Eagles goes up against B1 FC.
Also on the same day, from 6.00 p.m. at the Marchand Grounds, Bays FC takes on Togetherness Youth and at 8.00 p.m. Flow Lancers play T Valley.
