SLFA ISLAND CUP: Matches in Week Three Continue

A total of 18 goals were scored in seven matches played this past weekend in the 2019 Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Island Cup Inc. sponsored by the National Lotteries Authority. The highlight of the weekend showpiece was a shocking 2-1 win for the Roseau Valley team over Group A front runner Gros Islet.

At the Marchand Playing Field, one game was played under overcast skies when defending champions Marchand defeated Vieux Fort North 1 – 0, the goal scored by Valdez Maximin in the 48th minute.

Also on the same day, two games were played at the La Ressource Playing Field. In the first encounter Desruisseaux defeated Mon Repos 3 – 1. At half time the score was 2 – 1.

Scoring for Desruisseaux were Jevon Lewis in the 30th minute, Jamal Francis in the 36th minute and KimmalAgelie in the 61st minute.

Mon Repos’ lone goal was scored by Kishawn James in the 3rd minute.

In the second game, following a 1 – 1 scoreline at the conclusion of the first half, Roseau Valley stunned Gros Islet 2 – 1.

Brendan Modeste scored a brace in the 2nd and 50th minute, while Aaron Richard scored for Gros Islet in the third minute.

On Sunday 4th, at the Marchand Playing Field, Anse La Raye and Babonneau played to a 1 – 1 draw.

Raheem Lionel shot Babonneau in the lead in the 12th minute of play; while Zidane Augustin scored the equalizer for Anse La Raye in the 43rd minute.

The other game between La Clery and Mabouya Valley ended in a goalless draw.

On the same day, at La Ressource, once again Vieux Fort South came from behind to defeat South Castries 4 – 1. At the end of the first half South Castries led 1 – 0.

Vieux Fort South got their goals from SarnSavery in the 47th minute, Jervic Mc Farlane in the 62nd minute, Gregson President in the 69th minute and Saviola Elva in the 80th minute.

South Castries’ goal was scored by Claude James in the 26th minute.

In the other game played, Micoud edged out Laborie 2 – 1. The half time score was 1 – 1.

Meanwhile, based on the schedule coming from the SLFA, matches in week three of the tournament continue tomorrow at the Marchand Playing Filed, from 6.00 p.m. Vieux Fort North takes on Castries Central; and Dennery plays defending champions, Marchand at 8.00 p.m.

Also on the same day, at the La Ressource Playing Field, from 6.00 p.m. following their 2-1 win over Gros Islet, South Castries will be hoping to continue their good fortune when they play Mon Repos and Canaries takes on Desruisseaux at 8.00 p.m.
