New Japanese Volunteers for Saint Lucia This Summer

From the year 1995, Saint Lucia has been hosting Japanese volunteers on island in various technical and social development areas, as part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance to the island.   The Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) serve, share and transfer their knowledge and best practices to Saint Lucians in both the public and private sectors.  They are also keen on learning Saint Lucian culture and are always excited to return home to share with Japan.  This summer, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Saint Lucia Office welcomed several JOCVs to the island, here on assignment.

On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, JICA Saint Lucia Office was pleased to welcome Mr. Shigekazu Takao and Mr. Banryu Murakami to the island.  They are expected to complete a two-year tour-of-duty in Saint Lucia. Mr. Takoa, who specializes in the field of Elder Care will be assigned to the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home.  Mr. Murakami, who specializes in the field of Fisheries Sciences, will be stationed at the Department of Fisheries.  Mr. Murakami will pay special attention to the situation of the Sargassum seaweed during his assignment on island.
