Saint Lucia Youth Business Trust Trains Three

Youth Business Caribbean in collaboration with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) hosted the Youth Business Caribbean “Train-The-Trainer” Workshop at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Bridgetown, Barbados from Monday 18th March to Friday 22nd March 2019. The purpose of the training was to further develop the requisite knowledge and skills of Program Facilitators/ Mentors ahead of the initiation of the regional CDB-supported entrepreneurship project entitled, “Strengthening The Entrepreneurial Spirit of Caribbean Youth”. This standard entrepreneurship program which focuses on skills training and interpersonal mentorship required the training of three best suited Career Coaches and Business Professionals from each of the participating Youth Business Trusts.

Fifteen (15) trainers representing the Youth Business Trusts of Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Saint Lucia and St. Kitts attended this event. Miss Pauline Wolff, Mr. Donovan Williams and Ms. Agnella Joseph are now certified and endorsed trainers, able to facilitate entrepreneurial training in the CDB’s developing regional project.

Not only are the trainers equipped to successfully facilitate the regional program, they have also been tasked with the training of Youth Business Leadership Mentors and subsequent to their return they have successfully oriented twenty (20) Career Coaches and Business Professionals who are now listed as SLYBT Business Leadership Mentors.

The CDB-supported project for which this training occurred will commence on Thursday 5th, September. In two-phases, 40 young entrepreneurs will be trained in basic and intermediate entrepreneurial skills by the aforementioned trainers. The goal of the project is to improve on the independent and knowledge-based decisions of young entrepreneurs across the region, whilst maintaining sustainability of the self-employed.
