Happy Father’s Day

A local company is at the forefront of recognizing the importance of fathers in the lives of their children, from a tender age. That company is none other than Flow, who this week announced that it was introducing a new Paternal Leave Policy for employees, which granted fathers eight weeks of leave related to the birth of their children, whether biological, surrogate, or adopted.  Mothers will get 16 weeks of maternity leave.

The move came right on time; on the eve of Father’s Day. The policy came into effect on June 1, 2019.

This is good news not only for fathers who work with the company, but also on a national scale, as it sets a precedent for other companies to follow in recognition of the value of the family, and the importance of fathers playing a greater role, in the beginning and all throughout a child’s life.

Father’s Day will be observed on Sunday, June 16, and in recognition of the occasion, we have in traditional fashion put together a Father’s Day supplement celebrating fathers, and recognizing the importance of the day. As you might expect, we couldn’t help but to compare Father’s Day and Mother’s Day, and you’ll find articles on that topic, and others detailing the roots of Father’s Day, within the pages of this weekend’s edition of the VOICE.

On that note, we wish all fathers the happiest Father’s Day. We hope this year you are celebrated for your efforts, and appreciated for your love.

Happy Father’s Day!
