The highly anticipated Saint Lucia Football Association Northern Zone Youth Under-11 Tournament kicked off on Saturday 30th March 2019 with a total of 20 goals scored in four matches.
Despite the mid-morning heat, the day started with a march past of teams and a brief opening ceremony at the Sab Sporting Facility at 10.00 a.m.
The highlight of the weekend opening saw some of the Island’s U11 young aspiring footballers in action; there were wins for Valley Soccer, Northern United FC, VSADC and FC Pioneers with Cortrell Francois scoring a hat trick.
The tournament has a total of 11 club teams all from the Northern Zone.
The participating teams from Gros Islet League – Monchy FC, Northern United and GMC United.
Babonneau League – New Generation FC.
Castries Central League – Lancers FC, VSADC, FC Pioneers and Valley Soccer.
Marchand League – B1 FC, Big Players FC and Flames FC.
Results in matches played on an opening day – Match 1 – Valley Soccer 3 GMC United 0. The goal scorers for Valley Soccer were Alex Devaux 1, Shiloh John 1 and an own goal.
Match No. 2 – Northern United FC 5 versus New Generation FC 0. The goal scorers for Northern United FC were Tralan Henry 2 and 1 each for Jordan Peter, Thierry Morille and Justice Germaine.
Match No. 3 – B1 FC 1 versus VSADC 4. For VSADC the goal scorers were Kyle Noel 1, Armani Lesmond 1, Ozer Cherubin 1 and an own goal; B1 FC’ lone goal was scored by Shaquan John.
Match No. 4 – FC Pioneers trounced Monchy FC 5-2 with Cortrell Francois scoring the tournament’s first hat trick. In fact, he went on to score 4 goals and Jeanquan James the other. For Monchy FC, a goal each for Nahum Morille and Joshua Norley.
Matches continue in the SLFA Northern Zone Youth U-11 Tournament on Saturday, April 6th 2019 at the Sab Sporting Facility from 10.00 a.m. with Lancers FC versus Flames FC and VSADC versus FC Pioneers.
At 11.00 a.m, New Generation FC comes up against Big Players FC and B1 FC plays Monchy FC.
