Ministry Projects $115 Million into the local economy

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, projects an injection of approximately $115 Million into the local economy as the long awaited Upgrading Project on the Millennium Highway and West Coast Roads are set to beginin the coming weeks.

Next week Wednesday, January 23, the Department of Infrastructure will officially sign the consultancy agreement/contract for designs and will launch the “Millennium Highway and West Coast Roads Upgrading Project”.

According to the ministry, the signing will signal the immediate commencement of the project that is set to deliver:

1. Complete rehabilitation of the Millennium Highway. (NO MORE ROLLER COASTER RIDES).

2. Reconstruction of the West Coast roads from Cul De Sac to Soufriere.

3. Design for construction of the new Anse La Raye Bridge.

4. A Robust Islandwide Roads Safety Programme.

Funding for the work will be secured through Grant Funding from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) – United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCIF).
