Local furniture manufacturers explore Dominica market

PRESS RELEASE – Opportunities for Saint Lucian manufacturers continue to come to the fore as Dominica moves towards stability in the nature Isle following the passing of Hurricane Maria in 2017 continue.

Export Saint Lucia (TEPA) has as its mandate to increase exports of goods and services to external markets with a specific focus on trade in the region. To achieve this, the Agency organized a market visit for four Saint Lucian furniture manufacturers and one mattress manufacturer to Dominica from November 7-9, 2018.

The contingent was headed by Angela Alphonse, Client Manager at Export Saint Lucia (TEPA), and included Furniture City, Lubeco 1991 Ltd., Poyotte Joinery Inc., Pro Homes Finishing, and Celestial Furniture Design & Concepts.

The market visit was organized in collaboration with the Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA) which expressed interest in working with Export Saint Lucia (TEPA) during a mission to Dominica earlier this year.

Through the visit, the Agency and the manufacturers/exporters will discuss areas for collaboration with furniture providers in Dominica and determine whether opportunities exist to supply products which are not available or not already produced in Dominica. The contingent will also have an opportunity to meet with potential buyers of furniture on the island, network with members of the DMA, officials from the Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) and the OECS Competitive Business Unit.

Export Saint Lucia (TEPA) says it was grateful for the support lent by the Saint Lucia Manufacturers Association as well as the OECS Competitive Business Unit in Dominica to facilitate this market visit. (OECS Business Focus)
