This decision was arrived at following discussion on reports submitted by the Central Castries Team and the officiating umpires, as well as guidance from Umpire Jacqueline Williams, ICC Development Panel and CWI Umpire B Panel member, where the officiating umpires ruled that Mon Repos was awarded the match based on the fact that the Central Castries team had arrived 15 minutes after the scheduled start and had been Timed-out.

As to the decision of the umpires awarding the match, the SLNCA urges all uin a press statement to “please note the following points put forward by Jacqueline Williams:

“(1) The fielding team cannot be timed out (2) The only time A PLAYER can be adjudged TIMED OUT is after coming onto the field of play, so he/she cannot be in the pavilion and be timed out (3) Neither can the match conclude and awarded on refusal to play either, as per the reports submitted, because the team did turn up 15 minutes later than the schedule start time and (4) That result should be NULL and VOID unless the game is awarded by default or refusal to play, which the reports presented doesn’t allude to that being the case.”

The statement concluded: “In light of the above, the SLNCA informs that the decision made by the officiating umpires to award the match is Null and Void and the Final shall be rescheduled at a date to be decided.”

Match Summary: Central Castries 209, Stephen Naitram 87 and Sheldon Thorpe 35.
