KFC/Real Foods Supports SLBF Youth 3×3 Teams in 2nd Annual IBF Finals in Guyana

KENTUCKY Fried Chicken (KFC)/Real Foods for the last six years has been the main corporate partner of the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation. Their willingness to assist was to ensure growth and continued development of the sport on the island and to see that growth translate into regional and international participation, and to stand on the podium not only representing Saint Lucia but the KFC/Real Foods Brand.

President of the SLBF Leslie Collymore said, “Earlier this year, for the first time the senior national team participated in the FIBA Americup 2021 prequalifying tournament in Suriname and although placing 9th in the group, the experience gained by this core group has energized our entire development programme”.

He continued, “Now having qualified to participate in the 2nd annual U18 IBF 3×3 Hoops Final, KFC is determined to get both males and females to Guyana and the podium. This is not only an opportunity for the teams’ exposure but a great one for KFC/ Real Foods to broaden its brand exposure in youth development regionally”.

Collymore said, “On December 17th, 2017 The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF) hosted its National Youth 3×3 Qualifiers and the winners “male and female” will be representing Saint Lucia from October 18th to 22nd. Nine countries are scheduled to participate in the 2nd annual IBF Antilles 3×3 Hoops Final in Georgetown, Guyana”.

The SLBF hosted the inaugural IBF 3×3 hoops final in February 2017, with team Saint Lucia girls winning the silver medal.

In Guyana, the male team will face Aruba, Barbados, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Guyana, French Guyana and Martinique; while the female team will take on Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Martinique and host Guyana.

The Saint Lucia teams will travel on Thursday 18th October and will participate in the mandatory Youth Leadership Workshop on Friday 19th and the mornings of 20th and 21st.

Games will be on the afternoons of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st.

The female team comprises of JermiahEvariste, Cleo Jn Baptiste, Faith Chitolie and Mia George.

The male team features – Jean Pierre Frederick, Garrick George, Kivani Emile and Keon Allen.

The female team will be under the watchful eyes of Head Coach -Germaine Thomas who has been working with the players in preparation for the tournament; while Head Coach – Ron DuMurville take charge of the male team.
