Nine Umpires for Hero Caribbean

THE umpires for the Hero Caribbean Premier League 2018 have been chosen. Nine umpires and one alternate have been announced to officiate the 34-match season spanning six Caribbean countries and Lauderhill, USA. The Hero CPL has also given the opportunity for three USA umpires to officiate at the games in that country.

Five umpires have been selected for the franchise games to be held in Trinidad; Jamaica; Lauderhill and Barbados from August 8 – September 7. They are Joel Wilson (Trinidad) Patrick Gustard (Jamaica), Leslie Reifer Jnr (Barbados) and Shaun George and Dev Govindjee (South Africa).

Four of their counterparts will be handling the franchise matches in Guyana; St. Lucia and St. Kitts from August 9 to September 9. They are Gregory Brathwaite (Barbados) Nigel Duguid (Guyana), Langton Rusere (Zimbabwe) and DenavonHayles (Jamaica).

In the games in the USA local umpires Jermaine Lindo and Sameer Bandekar will be on field officials with VijayaMellela acting as fourth umpire during the match on 22 August.

Tasked with the job of officiating the playoffs to be held in Guyana on the 11 and 12 of September and in Trinidad on the 14 and 16 of September are Reifer, Duguid, Rusere and Govindjee.

In the position of alternate umpire is Zahid Bassarath from Trinidad who will also fulfil the role of fourth umpire in several of the matches.

The 2018 Hero Caribbean Premier League is set to being on 8 August and end on September 16 with both start and end games being played in Trinidad.
