CASTRIES South MP, Ernest Hilaire says public servants and other government workers are concerned about negotiations which have not started.

He told reporters outside parliament Tuesday that Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, had informed the Police Welfare Association (PWA) that there was no money and there would be no salary increase.

ā€œSo even before negotiations had started, the Prime Minister had already announced that there would be no increase for policemen,ā€ he stated.

Hilaire said it would be interesting to see what happens during the negotiations.

On Monday, Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Doctor Ubaldus Raymond, announced that he had been given responsibility for the public service.

Hilaire described the appointment as being ā€˜neither here nor there.ā€™

ā€œThe point is that the time has arrived for serious engagement with civil servants and other government employees to discuss their terms and conditions of employment,ā€ the Castries South MP explained.
