WASCO Crowned Inter-Commercial House Futsal Champion

THE curtains came down on the 2018 Inter- Commercial House Futsal tournament with the staging of the third place play off and final played last Saturday evening at the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility (BIPF).

Salvaging much needed pride in the third place playoff new comers, Bel Jou were runaway winners defeating Scotia Bank 4-2 despite their key player Romel Felix out of action midway into the first half after he sustained a knee injury.

At the end of the first half, the score line remained nil despite several scoring opportunities at either end of the BIPF. On the resumption Scotia Bank jumped to an early 1-0 lead with a goal scored by Jeff Jeffrey in the 22nd minute.

Bel Jou, made their present felt with a beaver trick from the boots of Dean La Force as he placed the issue without a doubt scoring in the 30th, 31st, 32nd and 36th minute of play; While Scotia Bank second goal was scored by Chris Jeffery in the 34th minute and at that point the score was 3-2 in favour of Bel Jour.

The finals evoked a surprise as WASCO blew off the favourites PCD with a hard fought 4-2 defeat. WASCO supporters will say, it was sweet revenge as they went down to PCD in the semi-final of the Corporate Warfare in October.

What a battle it was on centre court, likewise the stands, it was Carnival in May again and one can’t wait to see them battle at the Inter House Calypso finals in July.

WASCO took the lead with a goal by Samuel Lambert in the 10th minute; Nye Henry equalised for PCD in the 16th minute to send both teams back into the dressing room all even.

However, on the resumption, the night belonged to Richard Annius who went on to complete his hat trick in the 24th, 28th and 33rd minute to make it 4-1 at that point, while, Javier Charlouis reduced the deficit in the 36th minute to no avail as WASCO emerged victorious and Champions of the tournament.

Most Goals – Lincoln Phillip (Ferrands).
Golden Glove- Vance Adgdomar (WASCO).

WASCO -Champions trophy, gold medals and $1500, PCD -2nd place trophy, silver medals and $1000-Bel Jour 3rd place trophy, bronze medals and $500,while Scotia Bank round off the top four places.

A whopping 205 goals scored in 33 matches at an average of 6.2 goals per game.

Goals per team: The top five –PCD 28, Teachers Union 24, Ferrands 21, Bel Jou 20 and WASCO 18.

The top five goal scorers in the tournament were- Lincoln Phillip (Ferrands -14), Richard Anius (WASCO -11), Lynch Isidore (Teachers Union -8), Romario Lewis (Arkel/ 1888 Go Answer -7) and Trevone St.Prix (Bel Jou – 6).

In the Veterans finals, Toughest FC defeated Compre FC 6-4 in a thriller as the night belonged to Toughest FC player Trevor Daniel that scored his first career hat trick at that level with goals in the 8th, 24th and 38th minute. The other goal scorers for Toughest FC were Roger Leon 5th, Alvin Xavier 28th and Sheldon Mitchell 40th minute.

For Compre FC, SherykPoleon 15th, Anthony John 18th, Rafferty Noelien 25th and Nico Geroddle 31st minute.

In the seven games played in the Veterans tournament a total of 53 goals were scored at an average of 7.6 goals per game.

Goals per team: The top three – Toughest FC 24, Compre FC 14, BTC 9.

Top five goal scorers- Sheldon Mitchel -5, Roger Leon-5, Trevor Daniel-4, Arnold Palsad-4 (Toughest FC) and Wayne Quinlan-3 (BTC All Stars).
