PRESS RELEASE – THE National Workers Union (NWU) is extremely concerned with a traditional pattern currently being adopted by Government when issuing security guard contracts to some security service companies operating on the island.
The NWU is of the opinion that the practice is suspect, loaded and does not indicate Government’s determination to establish proper policy guidelines that would help destroy the old system.
Going forward, every Minister of Government must be made to understand the seriousness of protecting Saint Lucia’s national security and forget all other forms of attraction. A clear message must be sent to the security service industry that Government will definitely not compromise when it comes to national security and will not place strategic State security positions in the hands of foreign security companies.
The NWU will continue to monitor developments in this regard.
