Blackheart Tournament Kicks Off Tomorrow

IT’S this time of year again when football fans seek the best seat in the house as the Blackheart Production team wheels off its calendar of events.

The entertainment kicks off tomorrow at the Grace playing field in Vieux Fort with two promotional games.

From 2:00 p.m., Babonneau take on Mon Repos while Vieux Fort North — who last weekend secured the final spot for this year’s tournament — play Soufriere at 4:00 p.m. The two matches are expected to be exciting and tactical.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday next week, at the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) headquarters in La Clery, tournament organizers in collaboration with the SLFA will hold a press launch for the Champion of Champions winner-take-all.

Next week Saturday, the Blackheart train whistles its way to the Phillip Marcellin Grounds for the staging of the Champion of Champions scheduled to kick off from 2:00 p.m.

Seven past Champions and Invitational teams will vie for the $5000 at stake.

According to David Christopher, CEO Blackheart Production, September 6 will see the official press launch of the 15th Annual BFT 2017. One week later, the official draw for the tournament fixture will be held while on September 16, all roads lead to the PMG for the most-talked-about football tournament on the island with an opening ceremony, march-pass of teams and two opening games.

Meanwhile, matches will be played at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds on September 16, 17 and 20. The Soufriere Mini Stadium will host matches on September 23 and 24 and the action returns to the PMG on September 27.
The Daren Sammy Cricket Ground will host the semifinal on September 30 and the final on October 7.
