PRESS RELEASE – ON Friday, May 11, event management company, Liive Productions Inc., handed over its third monetary donation from its annual DASH Independence Colour Run to the Child Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC).

DASH Independence Colour Run had its start in March 2015 with nearly 500 DASHERs/colour runners and has since then experienced exponential growth in both its size and philanthropic objectives with the Child Development and Guidance Centre being the main beneficiary for the last 3 years.

“The donation has assisted with provision of therapy for children who need it and it has also helped with transportation and teacher’s aide for children who attend a unique programme for children with multiple disabilities at the Dunnottar School,” said Dr. Kim Gardner, Director and Pediatrician at the centre. “It has been very helpful to our sustainability as an NGO with having guaranteed annual funding from the event.”

This year, the Child Development and Guidance Centre was presented with a cheque for EC$6,500 and was appropriated from each paid registrations for the event.

“We are grateful that our participants have joined in on this experience not only to celebrate Independence but to stand in the gap and become advocates for the betterment of our less fortunate youths,” Robberta Rose, co-organizer for the event, said.

Supplementary contributions were made by the Windward & Leeward Brewery providing cases of SuperMalt, Minute Maid and Crystal Clear Water.

“SuperMalt is pleased to support the CDGC for the second time. Partnering with DASH Colour Run for the Independence Walk has been a unique experience and we are happy to see the number of young people participating increase as the event itself continues to grow. We are proud to assist the centre as it relates directly to the welfare of the youth and youth development,” said Junia Haynes, Junior Brand Manager, WLBL.

The LiiVEPro team would like to acknowledge the endorsement of the Ministry of Equity, Youth Development and Sports and the members of the St. Lucia Independence Committee for their generous contributions towards the event and the cause.

We thank all stakeholders, including our partners, sponsors, subcommittee, volunteers, well- wishers, onlookers and of course the 1300+ DASHERS who came out to participate and made this contribution to CDGC possible.

We look forward to an even more colourful and exciting event as we “DASH for the Olympics”.
