M’iquans Here for Pool Contest

A team of five players from Martinique is currently in Saint Lucia to play against the Saint Lucian team who earlier in the year took part in the Kweyol Cup in Martinique.

In that encounter the Saint Lucia team emerged champions when they defeated the host 6 – 3 to capture the Kweyol Cup in August.

For the next two days, from 9:00 a.m. the French contingent will be coming for revenge as they look to level the series when the two teams meet at Nigel Eudoxie’s residence in Aupicon, Vieux Fort.

The tournament will start off with an 8 ball match in which each player will play one game. This will be followed by two singles matches, one doubles match and one singles match.

On Sunday, there will be one singles match followed by one doubles and three singles matches.

All matches except the first will be race to 5 games, in the event that the score is 5 – 5 after the 10 matches, there will be a tie breaker race to 5 matches between the two captains or their designated players.

The Saint Lucia team comprised Nigel Eudoxie (captain), ChrysBelas, Robert Emmanus, Gilroy Pultie and Dwain Edward.

The team tournament between the national teams of Saint Lucia and Martinique has been initiated by the Saint Lucia Interim Pool Association as part of plans to establish an annual regional pool team tournament in the Caribbean

Meanwhile, the Open Doubles Best of 3 knock out competition originally scheduled for next Saturday has been postponed to early 2017.
