Weekend Football

THE Saint Lucia Football Association will officially open the 2016 FIFA Basic Coaching Course at the Vigie Multi – Purpose Sports Complex today. A total of 33 individuals will take part in the five day programme.

SLFA President Lyndon Cooper and FIFA Instructor, Kim Poulson will address the gathering at the opening ceremony.

Veterans Football – After two weekends of heavy scoring in the Veterans in Sports Inc. Football Tournament resulting in 37 goals being scored and two hat-tricks thus far, the entertainment resumes at the Marchand Ground this afternoon with two exciting matches.

From 4:00 p.m. Anse la Raye plays the 16th Ball Team Mon Repos Sharks in a must win situation for the western team after losing to Prophets and Kings 3 – 1 in their opening encounter while Mon Repos Sharks will want to prove why they deserve to be in this year’s tournament after defeating La Clery 2 – 1 for the final spot.

At 6:00 p.m. Central Vieux Fort will want to continue their good run of form when they meet Micoud. The Micoud team will want to make amends following their 2 – 1 defeat at the hands of Gros Islet.

Tomorrow, defending champions Soufriere with one point after their drawn game with Valley Legends will play Laborie, both teams are expected to come out firing for a much needed victory to stay afloat.

It has been dubbed, “The clash of the Titans” – Valley Legends with one point under their belts will play arch rivals Vieux Fort South in a Group A clash, VFS already with a win after their 5 – 1 drubbing of Laborie this past weekend at the Marchand Ground.

SLFA Football – President’s Cup Final scheduled for the Soufriere Mini Stadium. TiRocher FC from Desruisseaux will play VSADC from Castries at 6:00 p.m.

Also today, Saint Lucia Football Association Under – 17 team plays Roseau Valley at 4:00 p.m.

Tomorrow, in under – 21 action at the Sab Sporting Facility, La Clery plays Babonneau from 1:00 p.m.; while Marchand meets Central Castries at 3:00 p.m.

In 1st Division action slated for the Gros Islet playing field, Rovers FC plays Platinum FC from 4:30 p.m. and Massy Northern United are up against Survivals FC at 6:30 p.m.

Gros Islet Football – The Gros Islet Football League in collaboration with Saint Lucia Sports Online will stage two matches this evening. From 6:00 p.m. Dominators will play Reduit FC and at 8:00 p.m. Police takes on Glace GMC.

At La Ressource, Dennery the finals of the EC Global Under – 21 tournament will be played. Contesting will be Togetherness Youth and Aux Lyon United.
