Blackheart – Four Games This Weekend

WITH the 2016 Blackheart Production the St. Lucia Football Association Football Knockout Tournament officially launched on Wednesday.The 14th edition of the annual competition enters its final weekend of warmup games ahead of Monday night’s first-round draw.

Today, the action heads down to the Micoud playing field where Dennery, the most successful team ever in the history of Blackheart, play Vieux Fort North from 4:00 p.m. Dennery is one of two teams to have won this tournament on three occasions and they were losing finalists in 2015.

Last year, Dennery lost to Micoud in the title matchup. Also on Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. defending champions and home team Micoud will show their mettle in a cross-coast clash against Soufriere.

Tomorrow the warmup train will hit the Mabouya Valley. From 2:00 p.m. Vieux Fort South will meet 2011 winners, Anse la Raye. From 4:00 p.m. the home team and three-time champions Mabouya Valley will face off against the young guns, and playoff winners, the Saint Lucia National Under-20 team.

Following this weekend’s exciting warmup matches, all roads lead to the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on Saturday September 17 for the first round of the tournament.

The official draw for the first round is set for Monday from 7:00 p.m. at Auberge Seraphine.
