Youth 3×3 Basketball Event Here In July

THE St. Lucia Basketball Federation will be hosting its first of two rounds of their National Youth 3×3 Tournament on July 30 and 31 at the Vigie Multipurpose sports complex. The first event is the National 3×3 Youth prequalifier, geared at identifying and analyzing how well the players know the game and the rules by which it is played.

President of the St. Lucia Basketball Federation Leslie Collymore said, “Earlier this year the SLBF received a letter of intent from Fédération Internationale de Basketball (International Basketball Federation (FIBA) indicating that they would like to host an International Lesser Antilles Youth 3×3 Tournament at the end of 2016. As such, the SLBF stated their interest and to adhere to the prerequisites of our National Federation participation, we will be hosting the SLBF Prequalifier and Qualifier Tournament”.

The requirements for participation are as follows: players must be born between 1999 to 2001. Younger players are welcome to register. Four players per team and it’s open to both male and female.

According to the SLBF, the minimum number of teams 15 in each category – male and female. Players MUST register with 3x3planet.com with valid email address. All players must confirm his/her registration via that same email address.

Teams must remain the same for the qualifiers round. Ranking eligibility on FIBA 3×3 website for players who have played and registered properly. Eligibility to participate in International Lesser Antilles Tournament.

Collymore said: “I would like all our members and nonmembers to spread the word and support the teams that do participate in this event. The SLBF would like to use this as an opportunity to identify new talent within the sport of basketball as we set strides in developing our national team.”
