SAINT Lucian exporters included in a Saint Lucia – Cuba Export Entry Program (EEP) took opportunity to advance their Cuba export strategy during a special Business Forum at the Bay Gardens Hotel on Monday .

At this time, seven local companies are participating in the Cuba Export Entry Programme.

The Business Forum, one of a number of programme activities under the EEP was facilitated through collaboration between the Saint Lucia Trade Export Promotion Agency (TEPA) and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba. Its aim was to provide participating exporters with a platform and opportunity to make a formal presentation on their company and the products they would like to sell to the Cuban market to the visiting officials.

A high level Cuban Trade delegation reviewed the various presentations alongside officers from TEPA and the Ministry of Commerce, Investment, Business Development and Consumer Affairs. The delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade & Investment of Cuba, includes Mrs. Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Official of that Ministry, Mr. Jesús González and Ambassador Jorge Francisco Soberon Luis, Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.

A meeting was scheduled for yesterday between the visiting delegation and TEPA’s CEO Jacqueline Emmanuel-Flood to discuss progress to date on the implementation of the EEP, and other matters of mutual interest.

TEPA’s Marketing & Promotions Officer Andrena Simon says that the Business Forum delivers on the principles of equality and mutual benefit which underpin Saint Lucia’s trade cooperation agreement with CUBA, being advanced through their representative agencies namely, TEPA and or PROCUBA.
