THE public is invited to the Vieux-Fort Street Theatre, Arts and Cultural Exposé on Clarke Street, Vieux-Fort next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

This free event is part of the National Arts Festival (NAF) spearheaded by the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF). The event will include street drama, fashion show, dance, masquerade, steel-pan, and poetry. In addition, several visual artists will be invited to paint street side, and a team of citizens will create a community collage using paint and plywood.

Earlier in the year, several Vieux Fort groups including the Vieux Fort South Constituency Council, Southern Tourism Development Corporation (STDC), the Vieux-Fort Chapter of Volunteer St. Lucia, Vieux Fort Youth and Sports Council, Imani Models, N’Vogue and Jako Productions met with representatives from the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF).

The purpose of the meeting was to form a collaborative group specifically geared to create a sustainable group for the development of arts and culture in Vieux Fort by ensuring that Vieux-Fort Calendar of Events corresponds to the National Calendar of Events.

The first priority of the Vieux-Fort National Arts Festival Committee, is to facilitate the successful launching of a Street Theatre, Arts and Cultural Exposé during the upcoming festival.

This event is a very positive first step to advance the Committee’s objectives to enrich the arts and cultural capital of Vieux-Fort, to help strengthen Vieux Fort as a community, to instil confidence in its future and to enable residents to take pride and ownership of their community.

For more information on the event, please call 723-0144 or 712-8024; or email the Committee at [email protected] or [email protected].
