Startups, Job Creation At Heart Of Global Movement.

THE St Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, host organization for Global Entrepreneurship Week St Lucia held the first Advisory Board and Partners meeting at the Bay Gardens Hotel on Wednesday to get a head start for the successful celebration of GEW 2016.

This year, GEW will be celebrated from November 14 – 20, under the theme “Harnessing the Entrepreneur In You-(th).”

During this week over 189 countries will champion the compass – the GEW logo – connecting millions of people around the world to a movement of entrepreneurial champions and advocates. Beyond providing that connection, the compass increases awareness of partner organizations and its leadership in promoting entrepreneurship in the community, the country and the world. During the meeting, recommendations were made to pool the existing resources together to help increase communication, coordination, and collaboration across efforts to support young entrepreneurs. The Ministry of Commerce, Business Development, Investment & Consumer Affairs’ Business Month has been rescheduled from September to November to coincide with GEW celebration. It was recognized that through these efforts a movement can be started here in St Lucia thereby accelerating the creation of new startups, job creation and an entrepreneurship movement.

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture has expressed thanks to all members of the Advisory Board for their willingness to support GEW St. Lucia as their involvement will ensure that GEW St. Lucia grows from strength to strength. An invitation is also extended to all organizations island wide to become partners in recognition of GEW 2016 and to attend monthly meetings as plans unfold for a successful celebration.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 25 at the Bay Gardens Hotel.
