Second VSADC Win In Veterans

FOUR matches were played at the weekend as the Veterans Football Tournament continued at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort with wins for VSADC, Soufriere and Vieux Fort South, while Caricom Masters and Laborie played to a 0 – 0 draw.

On Saturday evening former champions VSADC booked their place in the next stage of the competition with an easy 2 – 0 win over long time Castries arch rivals Nyahbinghi. Scoring for VSADC were Dean Jean in the 28th minute and Rohan Lubon in the 44th minute. It was VSADC’s second win of the tournament and Nyabinghi’s second loss.

In the other match played Saturday evening defending champions Caricom Masters and Laborie Veterans played to an exciting goal less draw.

In Soufriere Veterans returned to winning ways with an exciting 4 – 2 win over Dennery All Blacks. Goals from Dorville Edward in the 6th minute, Dabreo Henry in the 28th minute, Morgan Cadette in the 78th minute and Jerome Serville in the 82nd minute gave Soufriere their victory.

Timothy Emmanuel with goals in the 16th and 84th minutes converted for Dennery.

The second game last evening saw Vieux Fort South edging out Prophets and Kings 1 – 0, an own goal converted by Phillip Leon in the 22nd minute.

The tournament continues this coming weekend on Saturday former champions Behind The College All Stars meets Lancers F.C. from 5.00 p.m. before an exhibition match featuring Uptown from Vieux Fort and Uptown from Micoud.

The final match of the day features Central Vieux Fort against Anse la Raye.
