Cheshire Masters Touring St. Lucia

A 24 member Cheshire Seniors cricket group consisting of players 55 years and over have arrrived here to play four limited-overs matches against local senior cricketers before departing on Thursday December 10.

According to Roland Cox, the man behind the tour, Cheshire seniors will open their itinerary tomorrow against a Dennery senior’s team at the Dennery Cricket Ground, and this will be followed by a match against a combined senior’s team at the Beausejour Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

The English seniors will come up against the Champions of St. Lucia Masters Cricket League – Castries Masters on Friday at the Mindoo Phillip Park before playing their final tour match against Babonneau seniors at the Beausejour Cricket Ground on Tuesday December 8.

All matches will be limited to 35 overs per side, and are scheduled to begin at 10.30 a.m. each day.

Cheshire seniors will be accommodated at St. James Club Morgan Bay Hotel in the Choc Bay area.

A key member of the visiting players is John Edwards, a former chairman of the Babonneau Cricket Committee.
Edwards 62 is a right hand batsman and medium pace bowler who has played senior cricket for London Clubs; Winchmore Hill Cricket Club, Britannic House Cricket Club (BP), CUACA Cricket Club and Catford Wanderers Cricket Club. He also played representative cricket for the British Army, Kent Metropolitan Cricket league (Captain), Club Cricket Conference, Kent Over 50’s (3 years) and, Cheshire Over 50’s and 60’s (4 years).
