U-23 NETBALLERS OFF TO DEFEND TITLE

First Test Sunday vs Montserrat.

ST. LUCIA will start the defense of their OECS Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Under-23 Netball title against Montserrat on Sunday, the second day of the tournament to be held in St.Kitts.

Team St. Lucia leaves here today for St. Kitts, but up to press time there was no indication who would lead the champion team at the tournament, although there was speculation that the task could go again to Iyana Hippolyte who led the team last year and was adjudged Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The squad reads: From Soufriere, Iyana Hippolyte–Goal Attack, Goal Shoot and Wing Attack positions. She was also a member of the national team which represented St. Lucia at the World Netball Tournament.

Verne Alexander–a new comer to the squad playing Centre and Wing Attack.

From Desruisseaux — Nena Joseph – returning member playing the Goal Defense, Goal Keeper and Wing Defense positions.

Jo Ann Anderson–another member from the 2014 victorious team playing the Goal Attack, Goal Shoot and Wing Attack positions.

From Micoud–Tamara Samuel, new comer to the squad playing the Goal Keeper, Goal Defense and Wing Defense positions.

From Babonneau–Kentonia Didier, returning after one year’s absence playing the Wing Defense and Goal Defense positions.

From Gros-Islet–Gaenaelle Solomon, playing the Goal Attack and Goal Shooter positions

ChattanyPoleon–experienced national player who represented St Lucia at the World Netball Tournament and is currently the “Junior National Netballer of the Year” playing Goal Defense, Wing Defense or Goal Keeper positions.

From Castries– Nerissa Augustin of Bare Denis, returning to the squad playing the Centre or Wing Attack positions.

Jocelyn Hubert of Ciceron , a former under-16 national player coming into the squad to play the Centre Court position.

Kamala Mangal of Marc, a member of the current under-16 national team playing the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack positions.

In their remaining matches of the series. St. Lucia will play Monday morning against Grenada, host nation St. Kitts in the evening, Dominica on Tuesday and St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday.
