V-Fort Children’s Charity Gets Help From UK St. Lucians

DAVID Clifford, Organising Secretary of the St Lucia Association of London (1963) recently, presented a cheque to Sr. Mary Lee Cox of the Vieux Fort Children’s Charity.

The Organising Secretary expressed his association‘s pleasure at presenting the cheque with the expectation that the donation would be put to good use. Sr. Mary voiced her gratitude and assured the the association that it would of great help with the plans the charity has for building a home for needy children.

The Children’s Charity is five years old and caters to the needs of underprivileged children in the Vieux Fort area. Their funds are generated from a Charity Shop which is run by the volunteers of the group, donations from well wishers and a small subvention from government.

The members of the association were taken to the site where the proposed home will be built. The piece of land which is in the Vieux Fort area, has already been cleared ready for the construction of the home.
