Trio of Boxers To Fight In Guadeloupe

GOLD medallist at the recently held Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Boxing Championships in Grenada, Middleweight Marvin Anthony will lead the St. Lucia charge in Guadeloupe with two other boxers at an invitational card there this weekend.

The local boxers were invited by the Boxing Club De Petit Bourg of Guadeloupe to participate in an invitational card being held this evening which will also feature boxers from Martinique and Dominica.

The event is being used by the boxers scheduled to participate in the upcoming Creole Boxing Championships to be held in Martinique from July 1 – 5 as a warm up event.

Two youngsters will make their competitive debut in the ring: Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School students lightweight Kareem Boyce and Light welterweight Nathan Ferrari.

The three boxers will be accompanied to Guadeloupe by Coach Anthony Roy Velinor, who is a British based St. Lucian born coach who has recently started working with the local boxing programme.

The local boxing contingent is expected to return home on Sunday evening.
