Castries -G.Islet Highway cycling Tomorrow

THE Castries Gros Islet Highway will be a hive of cycling activity tomorrow Sunday 28 June when the St. Lucia Cycling Association stages an 81 kilometre road race starting from 7.30 a.m. near the Government Buildings at the Waterfront.

According to Cyril Mangal, President of the SLCA, the participants will travel to the Union / Mega J Roundabout and back, covering that circuit 9 times..

Mangal said; “The competition is expected to be stiff in the senior category and will come from the recently crowned national champion Fidel Esnard, along with Gillan Moses, Eustace Dookie, Elvis Joseph, Kenneth Mathurin, Antonius Hippolyte and Winston Williams”.

Mangal said national junior champion Romueous Noel will start as favourite, but hot on his wheels will be Andrew Norbert, TerrianoFelicien, Dave Charlery and CalixteWilliams who are expected to give a good showing breathing down the necks of the senior riders throughout the event.

According to MangalKluivert Mitchel, Jesse Mentor and Janick Paul in the Juveniles are expected to be among the top riders, while seasoned campaigner Olivia Descartes looks like the clear favourite in the girl’s category .
