ECTEL To Host 15th Anniversary Conference

PRIME Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony, will be the featured speaker when the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL), convenes its 15th Anniversary Conference here Monday.

The two-day conference will take place at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay, and is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology of Saint Lucia Topics to be addressed during the two-day event include Broadband Development in the Caribbean; Contributions and Obligations of Service Providers to Broadband and ICT policies and plans; Regional Collaboration in Broadband and Open Access; Broadband and Internet Neutrality and the vision for ICT in the OECS. OECS Ministers as well as other regional and international telecommunications delegates will attend. The Fifteenth Anniversary Conference also coincides with the ECTEL Council of Ministers Meeting, slated for May 13 at the same venue.

ECTEL is the regulating body for telecommunications in its Member States and the worldā€™s only multi-state telecommunications regulator. ECTEL was established on May 4, 2000 by Treaty signed in St. Georgeā€™s, Grenada by the Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and The Grenadines.

The theme for the 15th anniversary celebrations is: ā€œCommitted to Broadband and Open Access in a Digital World.
