U-16 Netballers Ready For Jean Pierre Tournament

THE St.Lucia National Netball Association has selected twelve teenagers to represent the island at the 15th Annual Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre Youth (Under-16) Championships scheduled from April 11 to 16.

The team is expected to play matches against Bermuda on the opening night and Dominica on April 12. This will be followed by matches on April 13, 14, 15 and 16 against St. Kitts, St.Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago in that order.

All matches will be played at the Vigie Multi Purpose Sports Complex.

St. Lucia is hosting the series for the second time. The home team emerged as champions in 2011 when the tournament was held in St. Kitts and were unners up to Barbados the following year in St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

The tournament is named after the renowned international netballer, the late Jean Pierre of Trinidad and Tobago.

The St.Lucia team for the tournament is Kamala Mangal (GS, GA, WA), Mangal will have along side her Kiana Nelson (WA, GA, GS), Bianca Alfred – (GD, GK, WD), Darcelle Francis (C, WD), Megan Nestor (GD, GK, WD), Laurina Nicholas (WA, WD), Tanny William (GA, WA, GK), Janell Mathurin (WA, C), Joanne Wilfred (WA, C, GS), Merkissa Theodule, (WA, GS), Jeremiah Evariste (GD, WD, GK), and Sherel Williams (WD, GD, GK).
