SLNNA Gets International Assistance

The St. Lucia National Netball Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports is in the process of recruiting Jamaican Connie Francis to deliver a high performance coaching programme. This initiative is geared towards providing St. Lucia elite netballers with access to international coaching expertise.
According to information coming from the SLNNA, Francis was a vivacious member of the Jamaica Netball team from 1986 - 2003 and during that period played in five World Netball Championships. She Captained the Jamaica Senior Netball team from 1994 to 1999. In 2004, she obtained Level 1 and 2 Coaching Certification from the Australia Institute of Sports and served as the Head Coach of the Jamaica Netball Senior Team from 2006 - 2011.
During the first phase of her assignment she will focus on the National Under-16 Netball Squad preparation for the Jean Pierre Caribbean Under - 16 Netball Championship in St Vincent and the Grenadines during the period April 11th-20th, 2012. In the second phase of her assignment Francis will work with the National Senior Netball Team and the National Under-23 Netball Team respectively.

 
 

Additionally, she will assist the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports with the preparation of the National Under-19 Netball team for participation in the 2012 Windward Islands Games, scheduled for July/August 2012 in Grenada. Moreover, in compliance with her terms of engagement, she will serve as Head Coach of the St. Lucia Netball Senior Team scheduled to participate in the Americas Federation of Netball Associations [AFNA] Championships to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 14th – 21st, 2012.
The SLNNA further went on to say that, the expected output of this initiative is a cadre of national netballers with a maintain self confidence, focus and composure, particularly in challenging game conditions. Francis has expressed her eagerness to work with St. Lucia Netball once again. Likewise, the SLNNA is pleased that Francis has agreed to avail St. Lucia Netball of her expertise.
