To bring the
curtains down, the final was contested by
arch rivals Rovers United and Young Generation
with the latter setting Rovers a victory target
of 24 runs after some very tight bowling by
the Rovers team. With Rovers Captain, Murgaran
Joseph and Johnson Charles at the top of the
order, those runs never seemed enough. Joseph
who had been in good nick throughout carried
his team to victory, out-batting Charles-as
he had done all day.
Meanwhile, Monday evening saw the draw for
the ODI tournament at the Council’s
office; ten teams are in two groups of five.
Group A - comprises Survivals, Monarch, Veterans,
La Perle Pumas, and neighbours Young Generation
and Togetherness Youth who the current minister
of Sports and Youth Development is a part
of, whilst Group B - consits of Chesters,
R.Y.O., Mabouya Valley Under – 19, Aux
Lyon United and Rovers United.
The Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Council
50 Over Tournament commences this weekend
with games scheduled for Saturday 4th and
Sunday 5th February at the La Ressource Playing
Field. All matches in the tournament will
bowl off at 10:00am.
