St.Lucia versus Canada in World Cup Qualifier on Friday in Toronto

For the second time within a week the St.Lucia Football Association continued to keep close ties with the local media. On Wednesday 31st August 2011 the SLFA held another press conference at Helen Television Station to announce the St.Lucia team travelling to Toronto, Canada, where they will play the home team in a CONCACAF Group D second round, of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The SLFA President Lyndon Cooper made the announcement live on air. Now ranked 184 on the FIFA’s world listing St.Lucia have been drawn alongside Canada, St.Kitts and Nevis and Puerto Rico in home and away ties to be played between Friday 2nd September to November 11th.
St.Lucia will open their campaign in Toronto, Canada tomorrow Friday 2nd September. The St.Lucians will then travel back home to face FIFA’s world ranked 122nd St.Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday 6th September at the Beseaujour Cricket Ground.
The St.Lucia SLFA President also took the time out when made a special appeal to all St.Lucians to come out in their numbers and national colours to support the national team in their home games versus St.Kitts and Nevis, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The SLFA Boss said that it is costing the SLFA in excess of $500,000 for the WC campaign and in excess of $10,000 for the use of the BCG to host the home encounters. Interestingly tickets to these matches are reasonable as they only cost $30 for the three matches and $20 per match.
The full squad reads - # 6 Nathan Justin – Centre Back , # 5 Rickson Augustin – Centre Back, # 10 Tremain Shayne Paul – Midfield, #16 Pernal Williams - Left Back, # 3 Fabian Joseph – Right Back, # 9 Kevin Edwards - Midfield, # 11 Jamil Joseph - Centre Forward, # 8 Zaine Pierre – Midfield, Pierre will be travelling from Italy to Toronto to join the team # 21 Pesious Polius - Goalkeeper, # 1 Iran Cassius - Goalkeeper, # 7 Enderson George – Right Midfield/Forward, # 2 Bernard Edward - Centre Back, # 12 Hiram Hunte -Defence Midfield. # 14 Guy Joseph - Midfield (Captain), # 4 Kurt Fredrick - Leftwing, # 15 Cliff Valcin - Striker and # 17 Terran John-Midfield.
In Toronto, the team will be under the watchful eyes of SLFA Technical Director Cyril ‘Ces’ Podd, Head Coach - Alain Providence, Liaison Officer – Solomon Alexander, In charge of Delegation – Kendall Emmanuel, Team Manager – Williebald W. Charles and Assistant Coach – Anthony Jn Baptiste.
