More success for local boxers versus Martinique

There was more success for a contingent of St. Lucian boxers who participated last weekend in a boxing tournament in the neighboring French speaking island of Martinique.
The home team won a total of ten medals, three gold medals and seven silver medals. Winning gold for St.Lucia were Dalton “Hurricane “ George who knocked out his opponent in the second round, and Josiah Augustine who also won his fight via the knockout route. Augustine had a technical knockout of his opponent in the first round, while the third gold medal was won by the ever consistent Miguel Auguste.
Lone female Lisa Alexander on tour along with Adolph Augustine, Darius Cetoute, Travis Maynard, Giovanni Ermay, Thomas Melville and Lyndell Marcellin copped the silverware. Interestingly two other boxers who made the trip Garfield Jean and Ron Bastien did not get fights.
The boxers were accompanied to Martinique for the event which took place Friday 5th and Saturday 6th March by St. Lucian based Cuban Coach Renaldo Toledo and Vice President of the SLABA George Alfred as Manager.
