SLFA Football Competitions heat up this weekend

With the 2010 Carnival celebration out of the way local sporting activity is slowing returning to normalcy on the playing surface. Local football fans will witness the action in the St.Lucia Football Association Men’s and Women’s competition as it continues at a number of venues around the island this weekend.
In today’s encounters for the many coming to support the young princesses will see Vieux Fort North takes on Dennery at the Pierrot Playing Field commencing at 4:00pm, Nemesis from Castries will travel to the Village of Anse La Raye on the west coast for their encounter against Stingrays scheduled for 4:00pm at the Anse La Raye Playing Field, while Athletico will be at home to Vieux Fort South at the La Clery Playing Field.
Athletico is expected to come out firing on all cylinders as it is a must win situation for them if they are to stay alive in this year’s tournament. To date they have gone down to Dennery 2 – 1and Nemesis 1 – 0.
On Sunday 25th July, 2010 also in the Women’s Competition Desruisseaux will fancy their chances at home versus Amazons at the Desruisseaux Playing Field commencing at 4:00pm.

 
 

In the Silver Division of the SLFA Competition today Saturday 24th July 2010, Square United takes on FC Platinum at 4:00pm at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds.
The action will switch into high gear on Sunday 25th July in the Gold Division, Rovers United plays FC Cool/Breeze Challengers at the Mabouya Playing Field, V.S.A.D.C. takes on their arch rivals Northern United All Stars at the La Clery Playing field and Roots Alley Ballers will want nothing less than a win against G.S.Y.O. in their encounter at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds. The above mentioned matches are scheduled to kick off at 4:00pm.
Meanwhile, last weekend saw Amazona nose ahead of VSADC 4 - 2 in a come from behind victory with Verdan Fredrick scoring in the 56th, 57th, 85th and 90th minute. For VSADC #16 Merlissa Jamila Henry scored in the 29th minute and #13 Caster Peters pulled one back for her team in the 63rd minute of play.
At the La Clery Playing Field in the encounter between Nemesis and Athletico in what be considered a lopsided affair, Nemesis won 1 – 0, the goal was scored by the national under - 20 captain # 8 Ellaisa Marquis via the penalty spot in the 59th minute. Vieux Fort South continued their good run on form thus far in this year’s tournament by defeating Desruisseaux 1 – 0, #11 Kristie Janvier securing the victory with her strike in the 10th minute.
