Steady start for Levern Spencer on first indoor season in Europe

Last weekend the regions No.1 high jumper, sensational Levern Spencer, tasted her first indoor competition as a professional athlete with a clearance of 1.85 metres in Hustopece, Czech Republic. This was the same height cleared by 5 other athletes from positions 5 to 9.
The event was won by Germany’s European indoor champion, Ariane Friedrich with a clearance of 1.95 metres with Russian, Svetlana Shkolina and Iva Strakova of the Czech Republic both clearing 1.92 metres for 2nd and 3rd place.

 
 

Spencer, who is on a tour of Europe, had her 2nd competition on Tuesday 26th January again in Trinec, Czech Republic where she again came up against some of the best in the world and placed 5th with a slightly improved clearance of 1.87 metres.
Tuesday’s event was won by world No.1 Blanka Vlasic of Croatia who had a clearance of 2.01 metres, American Chaunte Howard, placed 2nd with a clearance of 1.92 metres and Kamila Stepaniuk of Poland cleared 1.90 metres for 3rd place.
Spencer is currently in Glasgow London, where she will have her next competiton today Saturday 30th January, where she is again expected to face stiff competition as she comes up against some of the world’s best.
