It is a developmental meet designed to encourage all swimmers to participate in distance events according to their level of swimming.

For the many swimming enthusiasts coming to lend their support on Sunday the SLASA has specially arranged time trials aimed particularly at swimmers trying to achieve 2010 Carifta qualifying times.
