Bronze Medal for Spencer in Gothenburg

St. Lucia’s world class high jumper Levern Spencer won a bronze medal on her first full indoor season in Europe. She was at the time competing in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Spencer, who has been improving with every competition on this tour, soared over the bar at 1.90 metres to win her first medal on this tour. She had previously cleared heights of 1.85, 1.87, and 1.89 metres respectively in earlier competitions. With that performance, she defeated current USA No. 1 Chaunte Howard who placed fourth with a similar clearance.
This mark equaled the star high jumper’s previous indoor best and placed her among the top 15 in the world for this 2010 indoor season. The event was won by Svetlana Skholina of Russia with Marina Aitova of Kaz placing second. They both had clearances of 1.92 metres.

Spencer travels to Linz, Sweden for another meet scheduled for today February 4th 2010.
