Southern Flying Fish Summer Splash Swim Champs

The 2010 Summersplash Swim Meet came to a successful climax at the weekend with Southern Flying Fish swim club of Vieux Fort capturing the meet team champion for the first time. The event which was held at the Rodney Height Aquatic Centre saw well over 150 participants in stiffed competition under near perfect weather condition.
Interestingly last year the southern club was the top local club but had placed second to Tsunami Swim Club from Trinidad. This year they placed first with a total of 962 points followed by Sharks swim club with 822.5 points and Tidal Wave into 3rd place with 734.50 points.

 
 

Head Coach of the winning team Andy Edward and his coaching staff of the southern club was full of praise for his swimmers and the support from the parents and supporters present on the day, meanwhile the Southern Flying Fish now turn its attention to the last quarter of competitive swimming at the RHAC for 2010, that also includes the national trials to select St.Lucia team for the 2010 OECS Swim Championship.
The Summersplash meet had in attendance five local clubs and an impressive five clubs out of Trinidad and Tobago and one from Antigua and Barbadua. The annual championship is organized and managed by the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center and coordinated by Dr Diane Worrell,
According to Public Relation Officer of the SLASA Dr. Christopher Beaubrun said, “The Summersplash has the unique time slot at the end of summer holidays and is used by the various clubs to jumpstart the various swimmers for the new school year and swimming calendar.”
