Harper to address young aspiring Cricketers today
Former
West Indies all rounder and vice captain, Roger Harper will
today Saturday 29th March 2008 deliver the feature address
at the launching of the Institute of Cricket Studies at the
Beausejour Cricket Ground.
Harper, who played 25 test matches, and 105 One-day internationals
for the West Indies, collected some 567 first class wickets
from his two hundred first class appearances for his native
Guyana and West Indies. He also served as coach of the West
Indies team and is now responsible for coaching the St. Lucia
Stanford Pro team.

Officials
at the institute say that they are extremely delighted that
such a high profile individual will be addressing the opening.
“We could not have asked for a more wonderful start
to the opening of this program with the likes of Roger Harper
as one of the main speakers. His contribution to the sport
in the West Indies is well documented, so no need for me to
go into to his popular acclaim,’ noted Adams, project
manager of the institute.
Additionally, the West Indies Cricket Board Director Lennox
John who fly in from St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday
27th March to attend the event, Director of Youth and Sports
Fortuna Belrose and president of the local cricket association,
Bryan Calixte will also address the gathering at Beausejour.
Several West Indies legends are also expected to visit the
institute and will provide coaching for participants, in addition
to cricket coaching; they will also revive a number of life
skill development training.
