CARIFTA Medals and National Records for Danielle and Siona in Aruba

On the first day of competition in Aruba at the XXIII CARIFTA Swimming Championships, Thursday 27th April 2008, the 2007 Junior Female athlete of the year Siona Huxley and her compatriot Danielle Beaubrun captured St. Lucia’s first 2008 CARIFTA swimming medals.
Huxley powered her way to win Silver in the women’s 13-14 category 50M Back, while Beaubrun had to settle for Bronze in the women’s 15-17 category 200M Breaststroke and in the process both swimmers established new National Records
Siona had swum a new time of 32.18 secs in the Preliminaries and went on to again break the National Record in the finals. She placed second to Kendes Nangle of Jamaica.

In the 200M Breaststroke Danielle swam a time of 2:48.99 seconds breaking her previous record of 2:49.50 and placed behind Mc Kayla Lightbourne and Aliesha Lightbourne of Bahamas.
This would be the third National Record Danielle has broken in the past 10 days as she recently broke the 50M Breast and 50M Free LC records at the Southern Florida Sectional Swimming Championships in Orlando Florida
Also swimming on the day in the finals of the 200M Breaststroke Women 15-17 was Sara Georgoes who had earlier swam 3:04.16 secs in the Preliminaries.
Meanwhile, Jon-L Innocent Dolor swam a 3:00.46 secs to place 11th in the 13-14 Boys 200M Breaststroke but did not make the finals and Runako Daniel erased an impressive 5 seconds on his 100M Fly to post 1:13.07 and place 9th in the Preliminaries.
